Something to do over the Bank Holiday...

Good evening. This is just a quick post to show you what we have in new for the Bank Holiday so there's not much chatter, just a few pictures. But next time I hope to be able to introduce you to one of our dealers and tell you more about her stock of fabulous vintage clothing. Vintage is something we have embraced here at Harrogate Antique Centre and along side our traditional antiques and antique furniture we have a number of dealers who specialise in vintage and retro stock. But I will tell you more next time.

Today I have started for the men (reverse sexism) with this smoking cabinet and collection of pipes. The cabinet is really nice with glazed doors, drawers for all the bits and bobs that pipe smokers seem to need and tobacco jar in the centre. As you've probably guessed I'm not a smoker but I still like this, its well made and has all its bits. And for the girls amongst us its even pretty!

But, staying with the boys for now, we have cars.

And more cars.

Although these cars are sharing space with some Whimseys and other collectables,
so not just for the boys.

Further around there's this fabulous enamel sign, just one of a few we have to choose from this week.
This one would look fabulous in my dream kitchen.

Sitting quite close to the sign is this guitar. It is sitting on a saddle would you believe?
And the saddle is on a 30's armchair - all tastes catered for here!

Also in here is this roomy Press. Loads of storage all in one place.
Inside it has the original slides and at the bottom there are plenty of drawers.
I know its probably sacrilege to many of you but I'd love to paint this, a nice sludgy green I think.

A bit sludgier than these painted chairs a bit further round.

I think it would look nice the colour of that table peeking out on the right of this picture - you can just see two legs and a bit of the top. Its a lovely colour.
The chairs are good too with blue Toille seats.
And I love the Owl cushion.

For the traditionalists amongst us there is this very pretty sofa.

And this child's American rocker.

And for me there is this lovely lovely Peony fabric.
Actually its a pair of really nice quality lined curtains, but isn't it pretty?

We also have a huge collection of costume jewellery

There's lots of gems to choose from in the centre as we have a number of dealers who stock costume jewellery. It is always popular and lovely to rummage through!

And then finally for today we have this...

...a taster of what is to come next time.

So that's it for today.

We are open all the Bank Holiday weekend so why not come along and have a look?
We are easy to find on the A61 Leeds Road, just outside Harrogate at Pannal, opposite the Mercedes dealership and just before Pannal Golf Club.
We have FREE parking and a great Cafe/Bistro on site so we make a lovely day out!
Open Saturday 9.30 to 5.30, Sunday 10 to 4 and Bank Holiday Monday 9.30 to 5.30.

Normal hours are 9.30 to 5.30 Monday to Saturday and 10 to 4 Sunday.

We hope to see you soon, have a great weekend.

Exciting stuff is happening here

Good morning all, isn't it lovely when the sun shines?

And isn't this fabulous Starch box just fabulous?

We have some exciting news here at Harrogate Antique Centre....

The BBC's Antiques Road Trip Programme will be filmed here soon, ta da!!!

We will post you the date shortly, but its very exciting. As a new centre it will be good for us to get our name out there which is always hard for any new business. And for our customers it will add a touch of glamour to the proceedings as well as the chance to meet some experts on the day.

UPDATE

The BBC will be filming on 30th May.

Come along and watch!

And then, as if that isn't enough, the Celebrity version of the programme - Celebrity Antiques Road Trip would you believe - will be coming along a bit later in the year too, so watch this space.....

The BBC Antiques Road Trip is shown on prime time TV and our episode will be aired later in the year. We will let you know when cos we don't want anyone to miss it!

But 'til then, back to the here and now. Here is a quick taster of what we have in at the moment.

Don't you just love this dresser? I think it's lovely.
I quite like the chairs too, and the pine cupboard behind them, but the dresser is really very nice.

I love the eclectic nature of this stand, there's always something interesting.
I like the big bust behind these pictures, juxtaposed with the dresser it looks fab.

And then, further round we have a pair of these captain's chairs.

and some numbers

and letters

these are sold as a collection or individually, which is nice.

And then in the bottom back corner the big room has been filled

and I mean filled, there is lots to see in here now and this really is eclectic.

This is where that lovely Starch Box I showed you at the start lives

sharing room with a fabulous bikers jacket

this great chair

a military style tunic

a fur stole

books and signs, pictures, plates and boxes, and loads of other stuff.
Its worth coming just to look in here!

But then we have more restrained stuff too

like this beautifully painted chest of drawers, very elegant with the mirror above.

and this plated tea set, again harks back to more elegant times.

and this oil lamp, which is stunning.

And finally, to end today's jaunt, this imposing chest from Phil who seems to like chests. Rather grand this one, you could get several small children in here or pirate's treasure, or just hide lots of stuff in it!

And that's it for today. I hope you have enjoyed looking.
We are open every day so please come along and have a look. Opening times are 9 'til 5 Monday to Saturday and 10 'til 4 on Sundays. We are easy to find on the A61 at Pannal just outside Harrogate, opposite the Mercedes Dealership and just before the Golf Club!

Or if you would like a price or more information on anything you have seen you can phone us on 01423 872463. We are more than happy to help.

Hope to see you again soon. Take care.

A quick tour of Christian's Bistro and some new stock

Good morning all, I hope you had a lovely Easter. Today's post is a quick tour of Christian's lovely Bistro Cafe Restaurant, which is part of the centre, and then a few peeks at what we have new in the centre itself.

This is Christian standing behind his counter in his domain. One of the lovely things about Harrogate Antique Centre is that Christian's is here. I really like to have a good mooch around the centre and then sit down with a nice drink and a good chunk of (really very nice) cake whilst I think about what I have seen. Obviously Christian isn't here just to provide tea and cake for me, which is a great pity as I do love cake. The Bistro also has a lovely selection of full meals as well as soups, sandwiches and the afore mentioned cakes. I had a very filling sausage sandwich last time I went in, but then had to watch a friend eat a fantastic looking Eggs Benedict. You know when you order something and its good, but then you see something even better? My sarni was lovely, you can tell good sausages, but hers looked stunning. So its on my list and I'm having that next time.

As I said I have a bit of a weakness for cake so had to include a picture.

Or two......
But please remember that there is always a good selection of other lovely things to eat, all made fresh on the premises daily, cake is just my personal vice.

As you can see, there are plenty of tables and even sofas with coffee tables and magazines. It is a lovely relaxing place to come to. (Clean loos too - I do like clean loos.) And for the summer days there is a large seating area outside with tables, chairs and umberellas, but I'll show you that another day, when the sun is smiling.

Christian takes bookings for private parties too so why not come along and have a look?

But back to what's new in the centre itself.

We have a hay fork

and a huge pine mirror.

An outside lantern

and a couple of very nice pictures.

a selection of mirrors and busts

more pictures

and mirrors

A selection of painted furniture

including this blue chair, which I think is lovely.

Then going up towards the till on the back wall, we have some more pretties

some furniture

some china, including a very pretty Shelley tea service

and finally, from Phil, a lamp and some rather weird but wonderful looking stone creatures.

And thats it for today I'm afraid. But its always changing so I will show you something else next time.

Harrogate Antique Centre is open daily from 9 to 5, except on Sundays when we close at 4. We are easy to find on the main A61 Leeds Road just outside of Harrogate itself at Pannal.  We are opposite the Mercedes dealership. We have lots of FREE parking so why not come along and have a look.

Or, if there is anything that you have seen and want to know a bit more about please give us a ring on 01423 872463 and we will be happy to help.

See you next time hopefully.....

Lovely new stuff

Hello again.

Today I was hoping to introduce you to Richard, Cathy and Phil, three of Harrogate Antique Centre's staff. However my camera's operator has failed to live up to my camera's 'point and press' brief and the photograph I took of them is just awful. But it gives you a very vague idea. Cathy is the blonde lady seated at the front. She is lovely, always smiling and very pleasant. Cathy has a unit in the Centre selling mostly ceramics with some interesting bits and bobs along side. I showed you some of her stock in the last blog post.

Standing behind Cathy is Phil. He has a unit at the Centre and works here. He sells a good mix of furniture, ceramics and pictures. His stock is good quality antiques and there is always something tempting to look at. And finally, on the right of my really bad picture, is Richard. Richard is part owner of Harrogate Antique Centre and is to be found here most days, often followed about by his wife's gorgeous Cocker Spaniel, Woody. They are a really nice bunch and far less shady than they look in this picture.

This one shows them in a slightly clearer light, but I will get a proper posed one next time.

In the mean time we have some new stuff to show you.

This is a new dealer, lots of maps in lots of sizes. I love looking at maps, its always nice to find somewhere you know and see the differences between now and then.

Another new unit is this one, full of books.

The Ladybird Books take me back to my childhood.

I can remember them from school.

Another new addition are these rugs.

They add a bit of colour and look lovely and warm on the wall.

And now to finish off showing you around, which I started on my last post. I think I ended around Simon and Julie's stand so I will start back there now, with this fabulous pair of lamps.

This lovely ornate mirror.

A bit further around in the bottom corner is this display of costume jewellery.

And then on the back straight there is this pair of painted chairs with raspberry toille seats.

Heading towards the till is this selection of vintage clothing and accessories.

Sadly I can also remember the white knee high boots from the 60's, although I was too young for them at the time. My aunt had some and I thought they were lovely.

Then we have this pretty plate and pair of Claret Jugs. And I wish I had taken a wider photograph because the cottage picture at the back looks nice too!

And then, do you remember the shady picture at the start of this post? Well this stand belongs to Phil, standing in the centre at the back of the picture. Lots of interesting stuff here.

This second pair of jugs, this time ceramic, are very pretty.

and I really like these pictures.

And then we are round back to the front with Brian's stand and this amazing Stag's head.

And this Lantern

and this Taxidermy Grouse.

And finally, there's my stand, and just to show no favouritism my photographer has failed again. These are much prettier than they look here. The upholstery is gorgeous and the frames are really nice too.

They are a pair of lovely Edwardian Chairs, also available separately. They are painted white and upholstered in matching blue Toille.

They look clearer here, with my biblical mannequin in between them.

I think that is it for today, I hope you have enjoyed looking. If there is anything that catches your fancy come along and have a look. We are easy to find on the A61 Leeds Road at Pannal, very close to the Mercedes garage with a huge sign outside and lots of FREE parking.

Or you can phone us on 01423 872463.

Hope to see you again soon.
